Simple Joys

Despite some troubling family matters and the bombing at the Boston Marathon there are still many things for me to be joyful about this week. The fact I have my health and family brings me joy and I need to be reminded of that every day because it can be taken away in the blink of an eye.  My blogger friend Stacey at Likes to Smile wrote a great post about some of the superheros of the Boston tragedy and shares a great quote from Mr. Rogers.

With that being said, I love to sing at the top of my lungs with the radio in my car when I’m driving solo. It’s a stress reliever for me and boosts my spirits. I’m a closet singer.  I don’t like to sing in front of people unless it’s along with everyone else at a concert.   Some of my favorite current pop sing-a-long songs are Carry On by fun, Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars and Daylight by Maroon 5. Bohemian Rhaposdy is a classic and makes for a great sing-a-long song as shown by Mike Myers and Dana Carvey in Wayne’s World.  The video is one of my favorite Saturday Night Live skits and yes, I realize it dates me a bit.

 

 

I also enjoy pajama mornings.  I like being able to lounge in my pajamas for at least an hour after I wake up.  My favorite time of day is after everyone has left the house in the morning.  I drink my coffee, journal, read The Daily Word, check emails, read blogs and work on my blog a little.  Pajama mornings have been passed down from generation to generation.  It starts with my mother, then me and now my daughter has taken a liking to lounging in pjs.

 

 

We’ve had a lot of rain lately which I was grateful for last week, but this week I’m ready for some sunshine.  On the plus side, I’ve been able to wear some of my raincoats.  I love a trench coat.  I have two long ones, one in bright green and a black  plaid.  I also have a short black one.  I bought them years ago.  I love jackets, but the weather in Kansas doesn’t seem to allow much time to  wear them.  It seems like we go from a winter coat to no coat.  After doing a quick search for trench coats on the internet.  I really liked the above three coats.  However, I hope I won’t be needing one this weekend.
