I drink a lot of water year round and sometimes it just gets plain boring. Last summer I purchased a glass water pitcher that contains a separate cylinder inside for fruit. When I’m not being lazy, I love to make infused water. You don’t need a special pitcher to make flavored water, but I like it because it helps contain any floating seeds from the fruit. I purchased my pitcher at Bed Bath and Beyond last year. You can find them at several different places. Infused Waters recommends the Prodyne Fruit Infusion Pitcher. So far I haven’t been too experimental with my flavored waters. I’ve made lemon, strawberry, cucumber, orange and lime infused waters. After doing a google search for infused waters, I found a few new combinations I’d like to try.
1.Orange Pineapple– for a 2 gallon dispenser use 1/2 a pineapple quartered + 1 orange sliced with the peel on, source-Infused Waters
2.Watermelon Cilantro– for a 32 oz. jar mix 4 cubes fresh watermelon + 5-6 leaves of cilantro. Tear cilantro leaves in half to get the most flavor. Chill for 2- 4 hours. Do not re-infuse or let it sit for too long because the water will become cloudy source- Infused Waters
3.Cucumber Lemon– In a 2 qt. pitcher combine 12 thin slices of cucumber + 4 slices of lemon with water. Chill at least 2 hrs., source- fruit infused water
4.Cherry Limeade– 1 key lime thinly sliced, 6 pitted cherries cut in half, 1 sprig of mint, source- fruit infused water
5.Grapefruit Orange and Lime- 1/2 grapefruit thinly sliced, 1 orange thinly sliced, 1/2 a lime thinly sliced, mint sprigs (optional) source –fruit infused water
6.Pineapple Mint– 1 cup fresh pineapple cut in cubes and 12 mint leaves roughly chopped, chill overnight, source everyday home blog
7.Blackberry Sage– 1 cup blackberries lightly crushed, 3-4 sage leaves, chill overnight, source- everyday home blog
8.Strawberry Orange and Mint– 6 strawberries halved, 1/2 orange, crushed mint leaves
9.Orange and Lemon– 1/2 orange sliced and 1 sliced lemon
10.Cucumber Lime and Mint– 1/2 cucumber sliced, 1 lime sliced, crushed mint leaves
The possibilities are endless when it comes to flavoring water. My blogger friend Stacey posted links for nine more infused water recipes on her blog Likes to Smile just yesterday. I would much rather use fresh fruits and vegetables to flavor my water than a bunch of artificial ingredients. Do you make flavored water? If so, what are some of your favorite combinations?
Since writing this post I have found some great pitchers for infused water. You can read about them in this post.

Love that pitcher! Thanks for sharing, I also saw Stacey’s post yesterday. You ladies have inspired me!

Thanks Adri, I’ve found the longer the fruit sits in the water the more flavor it has. I like the pitcher too!

Love these suggestions !! I have done one that I love – kind of a “very berry” – with any combo of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries…. whatever is on sale or fresh at the farmer’s market!!

These ideas look great! I need to find ways to keep sneaking more water into my diet. Also I’ll have to check out that pitcher. I have a 20% off coupon for Bed Bath & Beyond burning a hole in my pocket 😉

Thanks for visiting Lyndsay. I do love my pitcher! The glass cylinder on the inside is a little delicate so I just have to be careful when I wash it. I hope this inspires you to drink more water, a little flavor helps.

Great suggestions and it looks pretty too. I usually freeze fruit in ice cubes but this is also a way to do it.

Thanks Louise! I’ve never tried freezing fruit in an ice cube. I’ll have to give it a try. The ice cubes would look pretty in a glass of water or punch as an added touch. I’ve found the longer the fruit sits in the water the more flavor it has.

These are some good recipes! I came here from Pinterest. I usually don’t look at water recipes because they are all the same, just citrus and mint or cucumber, but these are creative and different! I’m looking forward to trying pineapple mint and cherry limeade.

Thanks for visiting Alyssa! For some reason I just think of flavoring water during the summer months, but have started back up again. It’s a nice change of pace. I get tired of drinking plain water.

I love the carafe, pictured above. Is it still available?
dawn says
Thanks June. I purchased it at bed bath and beyond a few years ago. I’m not sure if they still have this particular one, but I found one on line that is similar click here.

Thanks so much! Can’t wait to try the waters, yum:)

Hello Dawn… I am starting to make infused water and just purchased the Prodyne pitcher with the infuser and ice log. I will definitely be making some of these recipes. They look delicious! . Thank you.

I hope you like them. I like having a pitcher with the separate cylinder for fruit and veggies. It helps cut down on having seeds floating in your water 🙂

Great suggestions! I’m usually the lemon or lime person so it’s wonderful to know there are many options I could choose. 🙂

Thanks for commenting, I hope this inspires you to try some new flavors. I used to just use lemon or lime as well, but this summer I’ve been loving cucumber and watermelon and strawberries are good too. It’s fun to mix things up a bit 🙂 I shared a post on some great Tayeka pitchers I found at Costco.

Fantastic site you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any forums that cover the same topics discussed in this article?
I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get suggestions from other knowledgeable people that share the same interest.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Bless you!

The resort we stayed in after Christmas always had something floating the water dispenser. It definitely made it pretty. I was surprised by how much you could taste these elements… I think old fashioned lemon is my favorite, but the cucumber was pretty nice too:)

It’s important to remove the peel/rind when using oranges, lemons, or limes. If you don’t you put a lot of bitter taste into the water 🙂
