I recently had the opportunity to attend a Holiday Homes Tour sponsored by the Johnson County Young Matrons. I was disappointed pictures were prohibited, but one of the homes featured was a friend of mine. She very graciously let me come back to take a few photographs for my blog. Her home is full of southern charm which reflects her Kentucky roots. The house has a huge front porch and she has several hanging baskets filled with greenery and over-sized Christmas ornaments hanging from the porch roof. I also love her nativity scene made of stone which rests in the grass along the walkway to her front porch.
Every banister in the house was decorated with mostly fresh greenery. I love how the greenery on the left has magnolia leaves tucked into it. I also love how the pendant light in her basement has a swag of greenery hanging down from it.
She has multiple Christmas trees decorated to the hilt. I thought the nutcrackers lined along her stairway were a clever idea. She said it was actually her daughters idea years ago. When she was 4 years old she lined them up on the stairs, and she has decided to keep it the same way every year. I fear there would be casualties if I tried to do this at my house.
The dining room table was set with her beautiful china collection. The roses and magnolia leaves served as a centerpiece.
This picture is behind the bar in her basement. I love the brick moulding above the stove and how the garland surrounds the archway.
I like the natural elements of this first arrangement. The second one is simple and uses items you may already have on hand. My pictures really don’t do her home justice. There were many more decorations that I didn’t include, but I thought some of these ideas might inspire you when decorating your own home. As I’ve gotten older I’ve tried to simplify things more. Decorating takes a lot of time and effort, but it always helps to get me in the Christmas spirit. Picture Perfect Interiors and Ray-Hay Design assisted in decorating this home.

What an amazing house! You did a super job of caputring some of those special details that make holidays extra fun!
and I love the Nutcrackers on the stairs too! But with two dogs and two cats, I’m afriad they wouldn’t last long!
