My nesting instinct is beginning in preparation for the cold months ahead. As the leaves begin to fall from the trees and the daylight hours turn shorter I feel compelled to light candles and slow down. The busy pace of the holidays is quickly approaching. I feel a need to organize a little and start sorting through recipes and craft ideas I’d like to make. If I don’t establish some sort of a plan time passes and I haven’t accomplished anything. This weekend’s project is to organize my hall closet and assess our coat situation. My children are still growing so they inevitably need a new coat every year. I’m usually scrambling at the last minute to buy one because they don’t see the need for a coat unless it’s below zero. I’m sure there are other mothers out there who can relate. Have you begun any nesting rituals?

Found you through NaBloPoMo, Dawn, and just wanted to say that I’ve begun settling in for the winter, too. I love this time of year. I always seem to get so much more done. It’s certainly when most of my writing gets done, but I find I’m more creative generally. There’s something about sitting down in some soft ambient lighting with a roaring fire burning in the grate. It’s incredibly seductive, and just inspires creativity. Great post. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Susan. I’m new to NaBloPoMo, but excited for the challenge. I subscribed to your website. It looks like you share a lot of great positive inspiration. I’m looking forward to following it.

Yes, it’s my first time here, too, Dawn, although I’ve done a couple of Ultimate Blog Challenges run by Michelle Schaeffer before. Thanks so much for signing up. Glad to have you and hope you find much that is nourishing to your soul and enriching to your heart. And I’m looking forward, too, to reading what more you have for us this month (and beyond), too. Best wishes.
