I love end of the year recaps and one of my favorites is Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of the year shows. In case you missed it, this years list included:
- British boy band- One Direction (My daughter is obsessed with them.)
- Governor of NJ- Chris Christie
- Author- EL James (You may have heard of her book Fifty Shades of Gray, even Dr. Oz was talking about it.)
- Gymnast- Gabby Douglas
- Reality Star- Honey Boo Boo
- Writer, Producer, Actor, etc- Seth MacFarlane
- Actor & Director- Ben Affleck
- Secretary of State- Hillary Clinton
- Prince Harry of England
- General David Petraeus
I used to idolize Barbara Walters. She’s smart, confident, articulate and she gets to interview movie stars. One of my favorite things about the annual Academy Awards was Barbara’s pre Oscar interview with the nominees. I love her thought provoking questions and how she can get to the heart of a matter. I have always been curious about people. I want to know their stories. That is, when I’m not being so self absorbed.
There are lots of fascinating people in this world, and I will be the first to tell you I’m easily starstruck. I have eaten at certain restaurants just to see if I could get a glimpse of someone famous. Whenever I’m on the look out for movie stars in New York I never find them while my husband seems to randomly bump into them. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to place less value on the famous and notice the true stars I encounter every week. People who: overcome struggles and physical challenges, comfort and take care of others, give their time and talent to others and are just positive people that make you feel good. Just to set the record straight though, I still wouldn’t mind crossing paths with Patrick Dempsey. As the year comes to a close, I hope you take the time to reflect on those people who’ve made a difference in your life. Have a safe and happy new year! I will be posting again regularly after January 2.
