I recently made a trip to Costco for a few essential items like bathroom tissue and Kleenex and left with a few extraneous items I didn’t know I needed. I’m one of those people that marketers love. If it’s something new and on an end-cap I will usually give it a try. I think it’s hereditary. My mother is always game to try a new product as well. She used to bring home all sorts of interesting items from the store. It wasn’t always groceries either. When the QVC channel first came out we noticed after several months that the phone number for QVC was permanently embedded on my parent’s big screen television. She had the station on all day long and the sun hit the television during the afternoon hours. My mom doesn’t like to drive and internet shopping wasn’t huge yet so it was like nirvana being able to shop from home all day. It got to a point where she just left it on for background noise.
The above photos are some of my recent Costco finds that I thought were worth sharing.
- Marinated Mixed Grilled Vegetables– Since it’s winter in the Midwest, we haven’t been doing any grilling lately. I love to put these marinated vegetables on a sandwich with some cream cheese.
- Nature’s Path Love Crunch– I actually bought this a month ago that’s why the bag is almost gone. It’s an organic granola with dark chocolate and red berries. It’s delicious and the chocolate chunks are a good size so I feel like I get my chocolate fix in. This is sold in grocery stores as well, but you get a lot more granola for the price at Costco.
- Coconut Oil– Coconut oil is the rage right now. Supposedly this is the type you want to buy: pure, unrefined, 100 percent organic extra virgin and cold pressed. Coconut oil can be expensive, but this huge jar was only $15.99. I’ll be sharing some uses for coconut oil in a post next week.
- Eat Your Vegetables Chips– This was an item I sampled at the store and found them surprisingly good. They are made with a unique blend of vegetables including sweet potatoes, carrots and navy beans. They are also gluten and wheat free. I don’t have anything against gluten, but I know many have a gluten intolerance.
The Smart Works pop-up organizer was one of those impulse buys. I had been contemplating getting something like it just to keep in my car and for $14.99 I thought it was a good deal. I had the cashier cut the tags off and put my newly purchased items in it so I wouldn’t have to search for the perfect cardboard box. It could be used for just about anything though and I like the many compartments. Do you have any favorite Costco finds?

I’m going to try the grilled veggies in a jar!

I hope you like them Suzy. I still have to break mine open, but I have bought them before either at Sam’s or Costco and they were good. Thanks for leaving a comment.

I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts EVERY day! Even though I rarely take the time to make a quick comment, I want you to know how much I have used your ideas and suggestions! I’m making a Costco run later this week and I intend on trying the grilled veggies and the pop-up organizer – thank you for ALL your wonderful posts!

Your comment and the others today have made my day. People that normally comment haven’t been as much lately and so I sometimes doubt whether if anyone is reading my posts. It’s sort of like carrying on a conversation with yourself. I hope my ideas and suggestions have been helpful and that you liked them. Thanks for taking the time to comment today. It was an answered prayer.

I put the pop up organizer in my cart THREE TIMES, but never bought it. I’m getting it next time. In the same aisle, for $19.99 is a round wood cutting board, about two inches thick with handles. I took it as my ‘white elephant’ gift at the Moore Family Christmas and it was a Big Hit. I went back and bought two more just to have on hand (because that’s how I roll).
Also, in the ‘ice box’ they have Sweet Kale salad mix. It has 7 superfoods included, such as kale, broccoli, and shaved brussel sprouts. It also has cranberries and pumpkin seeds. we are totally hooked on this salad and are scared they are going to quit making it. I buy a rotisserie chicken and dice it to toss with the salad for a meal, or sometimes I just stir in some feta cheese (another costco staple).
AND, a trip to Costco in Missouri is worth it for the wine and such!
Thanks for bringing up one of my favorite topics! I’m especially looking forward to the coconut oil education later!

Thanks Angela. Now I have to go back to Costco. I’m definitely going to buy the salad mix and the cutting board sounds neat. Did you ever buy the cheese board at Nordstroms? I’m thinking you could probably use it as a cheese board too. I’ve never been to the Missouri Costco. Maybe we can make it an outing sometime. Thanks for sharing these great finds.

You know, I haven’t bought that yet, as we are considering a move to the country house…so I’m waiting to see if I’ll need it. (I won’t need two of everything). But I did just receive $80!!! Nordstrom Notes….and that board was the first thing I thought of!
YES, let’s make a wine run to Missouri Costco in our near future!

OMGosh…. Now I have an entire list for Costco on my phone!!!! Love everyone’s suggestions… but think I’m gonna avoid the granola with chocolate. Sounds addictively deadly!
