My friend Sheila is the queen of earning money while shopping. She loves to share with me her new finds when it comes to rebates, coupons, and special offers. I’m not very good about using coupons to grocery shop, but I frequently use department store coupons. I’ve found myself doing more online shopping over the past few years. She shared with me a few sites that she uses. The first one is Ebates which is easy to use and a great way to earn a few dollars on purchases you would be buying anyway. To be honest with you I haven’t used the site yet, but I am signed up. You can sign up for free by simply providing your email address. I just need to get in the habit of logging into my Ebates account and then it will link to the store I choose. Ebates offers hundreds of stores like Amazon (which is one that I frequently order from), travel sites likes Orbitz and American Airlines, Athleta, Gap, Kohls and Macys. Each store has a different percentage rate that you earn after making your purchase. The purchase is made from the store’s site. You are simply using Ebates to link to the store. Therefore, you can still use your preferred method of payment. For example, I have credit cards to stores I frequently shop because I get reward dollars back for purchases. You still get your rewards points plus you get a percentage back for going through Ebates website. You can still use any coupon or special promotion codes the store offers as well. Every three months Ebates sends a cash back payment for purchases from the previous quarter. You have to earn a minimum of $5.00 before they’ll send a check otherwise it’s carried over to the next quarter. You can request to be paid by check, have money deposited into your paypal account or sent to a charity or family member. If this is something you are interested in learning more about and would like to sign up please click here You also get money for referring friends.
Another way to earn money is through a new app called Ibotta. As I mentioned before I’m not good about clipping coupons, but this is an app on your phone that only takes a few minutes to use. Ibotta offers a list of grocery store products that changes every few days or so. You select the product and complete a task. For each task you are given a certain amount of money. It’s usually around 25 cents. The tasks are things like answer a question or watch a video. It literally takes about 30 seconds. It saves the information in your shopping list and after you buy the product you select the store you purchased it from and take a picture of the receipt. The money is then put in your paypal account or you can choose to donate it to any school in America. Be sure to go ahead and answer questions for items if you think you will buy them because the offers change every few days. It will also note when the offer expires on your shopping list. Stores like Target, Walgreens,Walmart and Hy-Vee are on Ibotta. Unfortunately Price Chopper currently isn’t which is where I usually shop. When you click on the store it will show your items you’ve saved which is handy. When you’re at the store all you have to do is look at your phone for your list of items and then be sure to take a picture of the item on the receipt. They also have a referral bonus for inviting friends so if you are interested please click here.
