I got an email last Monday from my friend Amy in Newtown, Connecticut saying that her and her daughter Jane would be traveling to New York City to be on Good Morning America the following day. It was hush hush at the time, but I set my recorder last Tuesday and was touched by the performance of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” by a group of children from Newtown and folk singer Ingrid Michaelson. Most of the children attend Sandy Hook, but Jane is one of the middle schoolers. She is in the back row wearing a yellow cardigan at the Good Morning America studio. I wanted to share this because it makes me smile to see how these kids wanted to do something to help their community during this healing process. They used their beautiful little voices to send a message of hope with the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” In their own small way they are making a difference. You can purchase “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on Itunes and proceeds go to their community.

Dawn, this is wonderful. And I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog – always so tasteful, imaginative and informative. And because of you and Lisa Allen I am participating in One Little Word! One of these days, I’m really going to get my blog going…I haven’t made the time to work it into my schedule and as you know it takes time! Thanks for having such a great blog…it is inspiring.

Thanks for your kind words Helen. Your feedback means a lot ot me. I’m glad you decided to sign up for One Little Word. There are so many things to do and learn and so little time sometimes. I just try to keep doing a little each day otherwise it becomes overwhelming.

Dawn, I didn’t know you had a blog! I am so excited and happy about it! I am always going to look at it. I am blown away about Amy’s family being so close to the horrific tragedy.

Hi Gina, I’ve been trying to get the word out, but don’t want to overly bug my friends. I started my blog last February and around August I had Gina redesign it for me. I’m looking forward to your comments. The tragedy was very close to home for Amy and very scary. It felt good for them to be a part of this song.

I enjoy music by children and I love this song so I downloaded
it to my phone to help in a small way, but also as a reminder to
remember the lives being rebuilt. Thanks again for sharing.
