I started this blog February 2, 2012 on Blogspot and then later switched to WordPress around August. For the first six months or so I only had a handful of readers because I was still navigating my way around blogging and didn’t tell very many people about it. I have seen my blog evolve in this last year and my hope is that it continues to do so. If you find yourself with some time to kill, I’ve highlighted a few of my favorite past posts. Most of them are fairly short.
I’m grateful that you take time in your day to visit my blog. As a thank you, I’m giving away some of the favorite things I’ve blogged about over the past year. Once lucky reader will receive a basket of the following items: Love Crunch, Sea Salt Caramels, Five Crowns Card Game, Essie Nail Polish (Demure Vixen), and Williams Sonoma Spiced Chestnut Hand Soap. To enter just leave a comment and tell me your favorite post. Also please spread the word to your friends. The last day to enter is Friday, February 8, 2013.
If you enjoy reading my blog every day you can subscribe to it by email or an RSS feed. It’s very easy. At the top right of my page it says GET FREE UPDATES. Just click on email and add your address. There is one more step. You will get a confirmation email asking you to click on the link to confirm. If you don’t get this, check your spam filter. You have to confirm otherwise you won’t get my updates. My hope is that as my blog grows, I’ll be able to offer more giveaways which are sponsored. All of my giveaways have been sponsored by me with the exception of the local businesses I featured in December. They were kind enough to donate a gift certificate, but I’ve never been paid or asked to promote a place or thing. The things I feature are truly things I enjoy.

Your husband is going to be mad at me because I’ve been influencing your spending 🙂

My favorite post was the one about Costco Finds. I like to try new things, but sometimes the size of items at Costco is just to big to try, so if you like something, I usually do too!! Love your blog, keep it coming!!
dawn says
Thanks for the encouragement Kathy. We will have to try another lunch place soon.
Elena says
I like the Gluten-Free Flour Recipe post
dawn says
Thanks Elena. I will try to offer more gluten-free recipes or links to other sites in the future.

I enjoy so many it’s hard to choose. I used the organization sites you posted. I have pinned several of your receipes. I love the blog about Lauren and the heartbreak about who santa really was. I’ve read some of the books that you have posted about my most current one was the Kite Runner, thanks for letting me borrow it. I could go on and on about so many things I just want to encourage you to continue what you are doing and inspiring us all!!!
dawn says
Thanks Keri! There are some days I need the encouragement and it’s the comments from you and other friends that keep me going. I’m glad you’re enjoying the things I’ve written about.
Anne Putnam says
My favorite is probably a toss up between the Santa one and St. Clare. I enjoy reading all of them though!!!
dawn says
Thanks for the encouragment Anne and for inspiring the St. Clare story. It’s one of my favorites, as well as the Santa post.
Shelley Lierz says
I think my favorite of the ones lists above was the one about Lauren and St. Clare. I remember I literally laughed out loud. Plus, of course you know I can relate to the painstaking decision of trying to figure out which Saint Brady should pick!!!
Love your blog, and so admire you for taking that leap of faith into blogging.
Shelley

Thanks Shelley for your words of encouragement and being a faithful follower. You read my scribblings even back in the Oprah days and your comments meant the world to me. St. Clare is one of my all time favorites too. Only a few more months and the confirmation process will be completed.

Now that I have finally figured out how to follow the blog….I had a few problems. Not sure why. I had it marked a long time ago, but not sure what happened. So I scanned back through a few months to see what I missed. Loved it all ! Coconut oil really caught my attention cause I love the stuff so I was interested to see where you buy it and how you use it. Thanks for all the helpful scribblings 🙂
dawn says
Thanks Kelly. Maybe you can incorporate coconut oil into a Smoothie King smoothie:)

I like your posts on what your favorite things and “finds” are around town. We seem to have the same tastes and I don’t get out and around much so I’m counting on you to lead me the way!! No pressure though 🙂
dawn says
I’m starting to feel the pressure. I think you have good taste so I guess that’s a good thing. I seem to be helping to stimulate the economy 🙂

There are several posts that I have enjoyed, but Blogging Your Way Boot Camp had
a statement that has come true for me. “Hopefully in turn it will inspire others”, now
I want to try more new things and cherish the joy each one brings. God has given you
a special gift, thank you for sharing it.
dawn says
Thanks for your words of encouragement Cindy. I just signed up for another Blog Class that starts in March taught by Holly Becker of Blogging Your Way/Decor8. She is a huge inspiration to me.
Denise Williams says
I look forward to reading them all, but some I can remember especially enjoying are:
The Best Gift Ever when you gave Lauren the One Direction tickets. The picture is priceless and it is such a great feeling to give your kids something they are truly excited and surprised about.
I also love the ones of your decorating ideas as I think your house is decorated so cute so I love seeing your pictures. Keep up the great work!
dawn says
Thanks Denise! Lauren is worried her picture is going to go viral on the internet. I hope to share more decorating ideas next month as Spring approaches and people get into home mode again. Of course, I don’t think I’m ever not in home mode.

Dawn,
I religiously read your blog and look so forward to it. As an avid reader, one of my favorites was your historical fiction post. I also loved your holiday appetizer post. I made both the fiesta tree appetizer and the rosemary wreath…loved them both and added to my recipe file. Keep your posts coming friend…would love to see more “unique things to do in KC.”

Congratulations on your blog anniversary, Dawn! I try to catch up on your postings at least once a week – I love your recipes and decorating tips, but I think the St. Clare post was my favorite!

Thanks Becky! I hope to do more decorating tips next month. I have a friend who is an interior designer and I’ve asked her to guest post for me one day!
