Do you love getting packages in the mail and beauty items?  If so, then you may want to check out Birchbox.  My friend Tracy is a beauty junkie and told me about Birchbox months ago.  I hesitated for awhile to check it out because I’m not much of a beauty queen.  I’m sort of a minimalist when it comes to makeup and I don’t even have the patience to paint my own nails.  Primping somehow skipped a generation in my house.  My mother wouldn’t be caught leaving the house without lipstick on.  She used to hound me to wear lipstick.  I’m more of a lip gloss kind of gal and I don’t think about reapplying often unless my lips feel dry.

Birchbox offers more than just makeup.  They have hair and skin care products as well.  For those of you who are primping challenged like myself, they also offer hair, beauty and fashion tutorials. If you like a product you can purchase it from their site.  For ten dollars a month Birchbox will send you a box of product samples.  I received my first box in February with the following items.

1. Cashmere Curls-love this
2. Juicy Couture Couture La La– I like Viva La Juicy better
3. LashFusion XL– not wild about
4. Ghirardelli Chocolate-what’s not to love about chocolate
5. WEI Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask-gave to my daughter
6. WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beads-gave to my daughter

Product samples can vary from person to person depending on the personal information you provide.  I liked the hair care product the best and felt it was a good sample size.  My daughter loves experimenting with beauty products.  She was envious of my box and now wants her own membership.  I told her I would share because most likely I won’t use all of the items.  In case your wondering, I didn’t share the piece of Ghirardelli chocolate.

If you’re interested in joining Birchbox you may have to wait a few weeks for them to accept your request.  It took about a month before I received a confirmation.  I just got an email that my March box has shipped.  I can’t wait to see what goodies will arrive!
