If you decide to venture down to the West Bottoms of Kansas City be sure to stop and have breakfast or lunch at Genesse Royale. It’s located in the Stockyards District at 1531 Genessee St in Kansas City, Missouri. After a morning of shopping with friends which I wrote about here, I was ready to eat. To be truthful, shopping or no shopping I’m usually always ready to eat.
As you see in the above photo the building is a bright red old garage. I love the wall of mirrors and wood plaques on the inside. We all ordered the toasted pistachio chicken salad sandwich with orange zest, basil and golden raisins. The orange zest gave the chicken salad a subtle yet unique taste. I know it’s not quite adventurous when everyone orders the same thing, but the chicken salad was our waitresses favorite. I also had the creamy asparagus soup topped with goat cheese. The meal was delicious, and I will definitely be going back again. You can look at their menu here. Thanks for this sharing this great find with me Kyra. If anyone else has a favorite restaurant they’d like to share please leave a comment. I’m always looking for new places to try.
