Summer is officially over for my kids. School started this week and I can’t recall a cooler August than the one we are currently experiencing. It’s starting to feel like Fall, but I’m not getting my hopes up just yet. I thought I’d reflect upon some of the simple joys of summer. We enjoy spending time with our friends at their lake house. The kids love tubing and riding around on the Jet Skis. I personally enjoy laying out on their dock listening to music and going to lunch by boat. There is something so chic and fun to me about traveling by boat to dine even if your just going to a hole in the wall.
The fruits of summer are also a simple joy. Watermelon is my favorite summer fruit, but I also love a fresh ripe peach. We have a peach tree on the back corner of our house. The poor tree has weathered many Kansas storms. Despite having limbs broken almost every year it still produces peaches although not as many as when it was in its prime. You can read more about our tree here. One of my favorite things to make with the peaches is peach cobbler. My husband typically requests it every summer. This years recipe came from Taste of Home. You can find the Colorado peach cobbler recipe by clicking on this link to Taste of Home.
What are some simple joys that you love about the summer?
Great pictures.
My husband loves peach cobbler. I will be making this recipe for him. Thanks for sharing.
The peach cobbler is easy and everyone loved it 🙂
Tubing is so much fun, even for adults. That peach cobbler looks delicious!
The cobbler was a big hit with my husband and kids. I’ll definitely be making it again and it’s very easy. As for tubing I’ve tried it, but I’m not a big fan. My husband and kids love it though 🙂
Oh peach is heavenly isn’t it?
Good to see you’re enjoying your Summer Dawn, looks like fun!
I finally got the “follow me” button fixed on my blog, lols. Please add me! As always, love reading your work.
Thanks Ulyth! I will follow you too!
Traveling by boat to dinner? That is definitely a simple joy!! I would say eating berries, fresh lemonade, and sitting poolside with some magazines are simple joys for this summer.
I’d have to agree with you on hanging on the dock and going to a meal by boat. Even if you have to use your cell phone as your night light cause you boat light doesn’t work. 🙂
That’s even better. Loved the boat ride and it was a great night!
