Shopping is a simple joy for me when I don’t have an agenda and I’m not looking for something specific. The Kansas City Holiday Mart is a shopping extravaganza where you can browse goods from over 220 specialty retailers. Holiday Mart is an annual fall tradition for me and many of my friends. I look forward to going every year and have been going for at least 20 of the 26 years it has been around. Local retailers and retailers nationwide offer a variety of specialty products such as: home decor items, jewelry, clothing, holiday decorations, food items, gifts and more. Every year there seems to be at least one hot item or two that I have to purchase. It’s a great way to spend time with friends and find unique gifts for the holidays or yourself.
Proceeds from the Holiday Mart support community projects sponsored by the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri including its commitment to Children’s Nutrition and Fitness. Holiday Mart has helped to raise more than $8 million for KC community projects since it began in 1988. Approximately $0.85 of every dollar raised at Holiday Mart goes back to the KC community.
Holiday Mart takes place at Bartle Hall and runs from Thursday, October 17 to Sunday, October 20. Ticket prices range from $10 for a single day ticket to $45 which includes a multi-day ticket, VIP cocktail buffet and other goodies. Click here for ticket information. I’m giving away two Weekender Tickets good for all day shopping Saturday and Sunday to one lucky reader. One ticket for you and another to share with a friend. The Junior League has graciously donated the tickets, but the opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Please leave a comment below this post and tell me what is your favorite gift to give to enter. This giveaway will end on Sunday, October 13. A winner will be chosen at random and I will notify you by email on October 14. This is a shopping event you won’t want to miss!

I like giving unique gifts wrapped with beautiful paper and ribbon! I’d love to take a friend to Holiday Mart… That would be so fun! But to tell you the truth… I’m shopping for a blingy cute Kansas City Chiefs shirt for myself! I think I need one! Thanks for putting together fun contests like this!

This is always one of my favorite events of the year! Not only is it a great day of shopping with friends but is all for such a good cause!! Of course, one of my favorite gifts to give is candles. You can never go wrong with a seasonally scented candle to get you in the mood (that’s the mood for the season!).

I have NEVER BEEN to Holiday Mart, like I live under a rock or something. I don’t know where it is, I don’t know about this ‘wine’ business. All I know is that for months after it is over, friends will say “Oh, I got it at Holiday Mart” and I feel completely out of the loop. And as the weeks lead up to Holiday Mart and women start to talk and plan, eyes glaze over…it’s like little kids talking about Santa on the playground. BUT THIS YEAR, I have a date! And I am GOING!!! I cannot wait to find out what this is all about!
I imagine I will buy lots of gifts for my sisters, I have 4, and my mom. (do they have things for men?). I like to give blankets/throws, candles, food items, things that can be used up. I also will shop for my Secret Sister from church. She loves scarves, so I’m hoping to find something like that at Holiday Mart. (I’ll also buy gifts for myself, that’s how I roll).

You have been hiding under a rock! (ha,ha) It can be a little overwhelming so make sure you give yourself several hours. There is a lot to see. It’s mostly geared toward women, but there are also a lot of specialty food items which I think you and your husband would enjoy! I can’t wait to compare notes afterward. It’s always fun to see what other people buy and sometimes I’m bummed because I missed something.

FOOD. Food items are GREAT! Especially for my dad. I plan to dress light and maybe bring out the modern day fanny pack (cross-body) for hands-free shopping!
