My friend Mary loves to throw a party. This year she hosted a Halloween party at her home and raised funds for an organization dear to her heart, the American Heart Association. I had the opportunity to take some pictures before the event. I wanted to share her spooky Halloween decor because I thought she had some really great ideas. Many of the items were purchased. However, there were a lot of decorations she spookified (I’m making it a word) or glammed up with items from the dollar store or craft stores like Micheals and Hobby Lobby. Give Mary a glue gun and some time and she is one crafty chick. Mary made the spooky wreath above by embellishing a grapevine wreath with fall foliage and creepy touches like the skull head, skeleton bones, and eyeballs. It’s these little details that make her Halloween decorations unique.
I love this pumpkin topiary and the fact that she didn’t use the traditional orange pumpkin. She painted the middle pumpkin with black acrylic paint.
I love these little touches to items you already have in your home. The monogram W was already on her wall, she just added some spiders to it. She also added some skeleton bones to a pot in her kitchen and decorated some cheap foam pumpkins. My favorite idea though is the little masks that she put on statues and pictures in her home. The mask stickers are from Martha Stewart and were purchased at Micheals. The squirrel is an actual fixture on Mary’s wall she just added the mask.
Mary had this custom banner made at Shindigz.com which was displayed in her entryway. Shindigz is a great site for beautiful banners at an inexpensive price.
This coffin was laid out on her dining room table complete with skeleton, spiders and cobwebs and surrounded by votive candles.
Mary’s basement was full on macabre with witches, ghosts and skeletons. She hung inexpensive witch hats from the ceiling and my favorite idea was the faux stone on the wall. It’s a plastic tablecloth from Party City which she tacked onto the wall with thumbtacks. I would have never thought to do that.
Nurse Jackie was on hand taking blood from those who were brave. The syringes were filled with Kool-Aid and vodka to help numb the pain.
Mary topped a three tiered serving tray with a skeleton and hot glued jewels in his sunken eyes. Decorated Halloween cookies were displayed on the tray.
The ghosts were handmade from mannequin styrofoam heads (wig holders) purchased on Amazon. Mary hot glued jewels on the eyes and covered the heads with cheese cloth. They were hung from the ceiling with fishing wire.
The hosts were dressed as the cast of Little Orphan Annie. Thanks for sharing your home and creativity with me Mary! Mary was able to raise a lot of money for the American Heart Association and that is something worth celebrating.

I can’t decide if my favorite creation of hers is the pumpkin topiary, or the addition of masks to things. Both such fantastic ideas!
