Monograms were a big trend last year and I don’t think their popularity is fading any time soon. Monograms have been around longer than you and I. The Romans and Greeks used monograms centuries ago to signify where they came from or which rulers they served. In today’s society monograms can be found on: jewelry, accessories, clothing, baby blankets, towels, pillows and many more items. I like to use monograms to personalize my home decor or for special gifts.
My friend and old neighbor, Cindy Welch owns and operates HJA Embroidery Group. HJA is a one-stop shop for corporate wear, club spirit wear, team uniforms, special events and auto decals. I became acquainted with Cindy’s work when my kids needed their name and numbers put on team sports jerseys. My husband has also used HJA’s services for corporate shirts. Cindy recently opened a new store front located at 14030 W. 135th St, Olathe, KS 66062. HJA also accepts orders nationwide and can be contacted for special orders by filling out a request form on their website.
I recently had Cindy monogram our new family Christmas stockings. When I visited her at the store my mind started spinning with endless monogram possibilities. I later purchased two bath towels at Home Goods and had her monogram one with the word joy and the other with a P. Some other popular items to monogram are:
- Pillows and Shams
- Personalized Wedding Items such as the cute hankies above and T-shirts. Some great gift ideas for newlyweds are robes, beach blankets, towels and pillow shams.
- Fraternity and sorority insignias monogrammed on t-shirts, sweatshirts, little pillows, blankets and mugs.
- Baby items such as: blankets, bibs, onesies, bloomers and hooded bath towels.
Valentine’s day is coming up and Cindy can personalize just about anything. One customer had her home longitude & latitude coordinates embroidered on pillows for her children to always remember HOME. I thought it was a very unique and sentimental idea.
I absolutely love this graduation banner! My son is graduating this year and didn’t want a letter jacket. He has a letter and several patches from participating in band. It’s more of a keepsake item for me. He isn’t very sentimental, but one day he might appreciate it and everything will be in one place instead of in random boxes. Cindy often gets ideas from her customer’s custom orders. She had a request for a custom banner from a Harley Davidson fan. The gentleman takes it on rides and uses it for pins that he collects.
HJA has products available for purchase or you can bring in your own to be customized. The possibilities are endless. If you can imagine it, Cindy can create it.

I’ve got graduation coming up this year so I will be in need of gift ideas. I love the idea of having things monogrammed especially since college students have a way of getting their things mixed up with others 🙂

I heard Cindy opened a store. I’ve used her in the past for different sporting events and she is wonderful. Thanks for the reminder I will stop by her store.
