I will always be a student of life. Conrad Hall said, “You are always a student, never a master. You have to keep moving forward.” I enjoy learning new things and I’m often signed up for an online class at any given moment in time. I enjoy the creative arts like photography, writing, decorating, scrapbooking and crafts. You won’t find me enrolled in classes on html coding, but God knows I could use it. Learning is fun for me when I’m exploring my passions, but not so much if the subject is computers or math.
I also love browsing the school supply aisles. I’m like a kid in a candy store picking out new pens, cute paper clips and notebooks. I love these journals from Target. You might be thinking, is she crazy? Back to School supply aisles often look like a war zone. Mom’s are frazzled because they can’t find the No.2 Red Pencil on the school supply list or 5 section accordion files are nowhere to be found. I remember those days, but when you have one kid in high school and one going to college things change. Typically all they need is a few 3-ring binders, paper, notebooks, highlighters, pencils and a really expensive calculator.
The beauty of being an adult is that most of the time we can choose what we’d like to learn. I thought I’d share a few online classes and E-courses I’ve taken. What I like about of a lot of these options is that many are self paced and have no time limit. However, I’m not sure if that’s a good thing for me because I’m a horrible procrastinator. Some of these E-courses have videos and you have unlimited access to the information.
Shoot Fly Shoot– A series of videos to help you be a better photographer and learn how to use your DSLR camera. They also offer classes on Lightroom and Photoshop. I just signed up to be an affiliate and you can find their ad in my side bar. If you decide to enroll in their classes and use my link I get a small credit. I love that you have unlimited access to their video tutorials.
Blogging Your Way– If you are serious about blogging, this class will give you the tools you need to help take you to the next level. Holly Becker is a wealth of information, just be prepared to do some work.
Brave Girls Club– These classes organized by Melody Ross and her sister Kathy Wilkins will help you discover the inner artist in you. They are perfect for those who love journaling and doing some soul-searching . I’ve taken Soul Restoration 1 & 2 as well as a Mother & Daughter class. I had the opportunity to meet Melody Ross while on vacation. You can read about it here.
A Beautiful Mess– I love sisters Elsie and Emma’s fun style. I took one of their self-paced workshops on blogging which was really helpful. They offer other E-courses as well on photography, photoshop and creativity.
Skillshare– This website offers a variety of classes. I have enrolled in a creative lettering and a few decorating classes. Most of them are very inexpensive and self-paced.
Big Picture Classes– They offer classes on photography, scrapbooking and other creative interests. I’m currently enrolled in an iPhone Photography class and have taken many others over the years.
Online classes may not be your thing, but there are many classes offered locally depending on your interest. Over the years I’ve taken cooking, aromatherapy, gardening, yoga, tai chi, and photography classes through local venues. The possibilities are endless you just have to be open to them.
You are never too old to learn something new. What is a favorite class you’ve taken over the years?
