I’ve never been a huge fan of poetry, but I love this quote by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. There is so much wisdom in these four little lines.
I’m a dreamer and I’m not a very patient person. What I’ve learned is I can’t just dream something and wish for it to happen (although I really wish I had a magic wand). I have to take actions every day and work toward my dreams and goals. It helps to take baby steps rather than trying to do a million things at one time which is usually how I roll.
I also need to be open to the idea that the path isn’t always going to be smooth and there maybe be setbacks and failures. I have to let go of any expectations or how I think people should respond.
Many days I feel like I’m going nowhere fast, but I can look back and see how far I’ve come and trust the journey.
More often than not my timing and God’s timing are not the same. Patience isn’t one of my strongest virtues. I need to find the joy in the journey instead of focusing so much on the outcome.
I find Longfellow’s words uplifting and I hope they’ve inspired you today too!

Patience isn’t one of my long suits either. I think God keeps trying to develop it in me… But I still have a long way to go. It is a great comfort to know that some days things will go week, others not, and somedays I won’t even feel like trying. I love the refreshment of a new day which often gives me the energy to start again.
