These DIY Lavender Lemon Lotion Bars were created by Molly whose farm theme wedding I featured on my blog last week. If you missed it, you can click on the link to see all of the fun details. I thought these hen lotion bars were adorable and a fun favor for a party so I asked Molly if she would share the details on how she made them. She used silicone hen and rooster molds to shape the lotion, but you could use other types of molds depending on the theme of your party.
Depending on how many bars you are making the recipe for the lotion bars is simply equal parts beeswax and shea butter. You can also substitute cocoa butter or coconut oil for the shea butter.
Use a double-boiler and melt the beeswax first because it takes a little longer to melt and then add the shea butter.
Once completely melted remove the mixture from heat and add about 10 drops of vitamin E and 15-20 drops of both lavender and lemon essential oils. You may want to adjust how many drops you use depending on the quantity of bars you’re making.
Pour the mixture into the rooster and hen molds and sprinkle each of them with dried lavender. After letting them sit briefly, pop them into the freezer.
Once completely hardened Molly packaged the lotion bars in mini tins she purchased on Amazon and labeled them “Lavender Lemon Lotion Love.”

Oh my gosh! These are so beautiful! I am going to make these as my ‘take home’ favor for all of my sister at Thanksgiving. I usually give them a dark chocolate turkey…..HA, won’t they be surprised! Ok, maybe I’ll give them both!
