I recently learned about a new app called Seahorse which allows you to easily share photos with friends and family. What I love about Seahorse is that you can document everyday life or share photos from events or trips that you may not necessarily want the whole world to see right from your iPhone or Android phone. Seahorse is always private and saves your photos in their original resolution. All photos and videos are co-owned by everyone invited to a scene that you create.
I enjoy posting photos on other forms of social media and enjoy looking at friends photos, but the problem is I follow so many people that I often miss out on photos posted by my close friends. With the Seahorse App you can set up different albums/scenes and invite friends and family to upload their pictures that way those special photos or memories won’t be missed.
I’m not an extremely tech savvy person, but Seahorse was very easy to download and it’s pretty self explanatory. Once you’ve downloaded the free app, sign up by tapping “Sign Up” on the bottom right corner. You may sign up by connecting with Facebook or Google, or via email. If you are signing up via email, you will receive an email with an activation link you will need to click on prior to using the app.
Create a scene in Seahorse. I created a scene with photos from my New York City girl’s trip this summer with my daughter and friends and invited them to add their photos to the scene/album as well. It beats sending texts of pictures back and forth which is what we would normally do. I also created a scene filled with pictures from everyday life. My son went off to college this Fall and I invited him to share his photos from campus life. He’s not much of a phone talker so documenting our everyday life on Seahorse is a way to keep us connected and it will be fun to review our life in pictures at the end of the year.
After you’ve created a scene you can upload photos and videos from your camera roll or take photos directly with the Seahorse App. Seahorse synched with my camera and then I selected the photos that I wanted to put in my scene. At the bottom left is where you click to invite friends to share to your scene.
Seahorse pulled up my contacts and allowed me to invite family and friends to add pictures to a scene. An email is sent to those contacts and if they aren’t already Seahorse App users they can easily download it for free. If you are an iPhone user click here to download the app and Android users click here.
BONUS: Seahorse is offering an extra 5GB of storage by entering the promo code:CLEVERHORSE. This promo code is good until October 31, 2014, and each user can only use it once.
To redeem: Tap the icon on the top left corner to access your account settings
Tap “Redeem”
Tap “Write code” and enter CLEVERHORSE
Tap “Go” on your keyboard
There are several fun functions on the Seahorse App that I haven’t had a chance to play with yet like Magic where you shake your phone to rediscover past images. For now, I like being able to take the photos from my phone and organize them into actual scenes/albums. I’ve started to use my camera phone a lot for vacations and with Seahorse I can categorize them where I know they are safe and share them with family and friends.
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

It would be a great way for Alex to keep in touch too. I know he’s not much of a talker like Ryan, but he can share photos of England with you 🙂

Ok….I might be able to handle this new technology! Thanks for the idea. This would be great to share with my three sister and my mom. We get together occasionally, take photos, then the photos end up sitting in someones phone or texted back and forth as you said. sweet!

You can definitely figure it out Angela! It’s a great way to organize all of your phone photos as well and put them into albums.
