I love to talk about books, read reviews of books, collect books and if I’m lucky I actually get a few books read. I’m currently reading Gone Girl. My Aunt gave me the book a year ago and I’ve been frantically trying to finish it so I can go see the movie. I’ve heard the movie does a great job of portraying the book. I’m enjoying Gone Girl, but it’s not my favorite book of the year.
My favorite read so far this year is (cue the drum roll) Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I’m not sure if there’s a movie planned for it, but there needs to be. Get on it Hollywood Producers. It’s the story of a young woman who lives a pretty ordinary and sheltered life until she meets a worldly quadriplegic man who turns her life around. The two don’t have much in common, but they help each other in their own unique ways. I have unknowingly given away the ending to stories before so I don’t want to say too much and spoil it for you. I love Jojo Moyes’ writing style and British humor. Me Before You made me laugh and cry. I’m anxious to read Jojo Moyes’ other books.
I read a few books this summer that I also thought were good reads.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green- It’s one of my daughter’s favorite books. If you liked this book, I think you’ll love Me Before You
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty

Leave a comment and share some of your favorite books you’ve read this year. I’m always looking for new titles to add to my list. My book club is reading The Good Girl by Mary Kubica which is next on my list. Happy reading and don’t forget to share in the comments one or two of your favorite reads.

Other fav’s: “Lux” series by Jennifer Armentrout (YA); “Cousins O’Dwyer” trilogy by Nora Roberts; The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman; Tuesday’s Child by Dale Mayer (it was free on kindle/nook); The Collector by Nora Roberts.

Thanks for sharing Monica! Believe it or not I have never read a Nora Roberts book. I’m going to have to add her to my list.

I loved Bernadette!! I read it over the summer and laughed a lot. I’m going to add Me Before You to my “Books to Read” list. I listen to books in the car because I spend a fair amount of time driving around to clients. I remember reading The Giver when my children were younger and thinking it was excellent. If you are up for something heavy but excellent, I recommend The Orphanmaster’s Son.

Gone Girl was excellent. I just finished reading Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands, which was great too. Thanks for the suggestions…I’ve just recently gotten back into reading again, and I’m looking for ideas!

I finished Gone Girl and can’t wait to see the movie. It definitely takes the word psycho to a whole new level. I will have to check out Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands. I’m getting ready to start The Good Girl which I’ve heard is good. Some people even liked it better than Gone Girl. Happy reading Michelle!
