I have quite a few owls around my house so I decided to create a fall tablescape with them. I had some friends over for a soup exchange and I wanted to make the table festive looking for the fall season. I struggle with flower arranging so I decided to make pumpkins, gourds and mercury glass owls the focus of my table.
I’m going through a feather phase right now and they seem to be currently popular in home decor. I purchased these feather napkins at World Market last year. I also purchased feathers at the craft store and added a piece of washi tape with my guest’s name on it.
I purchased the green and silver mercury glass owls at Bath and Body Works last year. I put tea candles in the green ones and artificial flowers in the silver owls. I love to give take home treats and let my guests take home an owl when our lunch was over. It’s easier to do when your hosting three people and not 20.
I’ve learned it’s important to think about balance and have varying heights of things when you’re creating a tablescape. You should also include botanicals and or natural elements. In this case, I used pumpkins, gourds and feathers. I shared more tabletop styling tips and my spring tablescape in this past post.
The holidays are swiftly approaching and I hope my owl theme table gets your creative juices flowing. If you have a collection of something already in your home think about how you can incorporate it in your table. Be bold! For some Thanksgiving table ideas click here.

I think the owls are a little “surprise” that really makes the displays special. It is nice to add something personal to your decor. I love when our homes reflect those who live there!
