Being grateful is sometimes easier said than done. I try to practice gratitude every day and have many things to be thankful for however, sometimes a soundtrack of sarcasm, criticism, negativity and self-doubt like to play in my head. Sometimes I’m aware of when it’s happening and sometimes it’s pointed out to me by loved ones. Either way, I’m grateful for the awareness and I think a large part of being grateful has to do with awareness.
Finding the joy in every day isn’t always easy, but if I’m aware and pay attention it can easily be found. I’m grateful for family and friends and those people who God puts in my path to help me along my journey through life. There are many people who helped me make this little blog of mine come to fruition. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my husband and friends. I’m thankful for the recipes, party ideas and products my friends have shared with me and for listening to me when I’ve needed to vent my frustrations. I’m also thankful for the many people who’ve helped me with technical challenges and blog questions.
This Thanksgiving is special because I get to spend it with my parents, brother and sister and their families. We are also celebrating my parents 50th Anniversary. The pictures of are of my Thanksgiving tables. I decided to go a little heavy on the gold due to it also being an Anniversary celebration. I’ve listed a few details below if you are interested.
I hope you find many things to be grateful for this Thanksgiving! Thanks for reading my joyful scribblings. As always, I appreciate your comments, social media shares and likes. They help me and my blog grow and give me some direction on how I can help you as readers.
Thanksgiving Tablescape Details
I covered my tables with white tablecloths and put a gold mesh runner down the middle that I found at Hobby Lobby. I also found the gold wishbone, leopard feather balls and napkins at Hobby Lobby.
My parents sent me magnolia leaves from their tree in Florida. I kept some of them on the branch and put them at the ends of the table and spray painted some gold and mixed them in. I also used the magnolia leaves in my floral arrangements. I found the white poinsettia sprig at Michaels and used containers that I already owned for the arrangements.
I put glue on the top of a white pumpkin and sprinkled Martha Stewart glitter on top. I spray painted an old plate gold and used E6000 glue to secure a candlestick to the bottom of it. I found the feather tags in the $1 section at Target. I spray painted plastic wishbones that break like a real wishbone gold and put them on everyone’s plate with a name tag attached to it. You can purchase the wishbones here.
Most importantly I found the fantastic plastic plates that look my china at Party City. I also found the gold plastic wine glasses there which equates to less clean up time for me!
