My friend Pam shared this White Chocolate Snack Mix with me years ago and it’s a perfect treat to give to friends and neighbors during the holidays. There are several reasons why it’s perfect. There’s no baking required which means you aren’t a slave to the oven waiting on cookies to turn golden brown. I enjoy baking cookies during the holidays, but there are so many other things to do. It’s nice to have a few recipes that aren’t time consuming.
This White Chocolate Snack Mix also makes a large quantity so you can give it to several people depending upon the size of your container. The mix easily fills two penny candy jars or one penny candy jar and two smaller jars like the one shown. I purchased the jars at Target, but you can find similar containers at Wal-Mart or craft stores. I’m going through a gold phase right now so I spray painted the lid to the penny candy jar gold.
I selected plain jars that can be used year round. I’ve gotten to a point in life where I have way more Christmas decorations than I need. There is something to be said for less is more. Food gifts are always a nice option for those who are at a point in life where they’re downsizing and want to live simply. This white chocolate snack mix also packs well and keeps for at least a week which makes it a great option to mail to college students or extended family.
There are very few supplies required for this handmade gift in a jar other than the snack mix ingredients. I’ve provided a PDF file which you can print on card stock that contains the recipe and quote by Charles Shulz. Simply cut them out and mount them to some festive card stock. Punch a hole at the top of the tags and attach them to the container with ribbon or twine. Customize the tag to your liking. I found the Happy Holidays tags in Michaels dollar section. The recipe and quote gift tag can be downloaded here.

If you’re looking for more handmade gift ideas which are fairly inexpensive I’ve shared a how to on making a watercolor picture from an iPhone photo and how to make moss letters. I’ve given a moss letter of a family’s last initial and this Lavender & Coconut Scrub as gifts in the past and both were a big hit.

What a great gift idea. I love to give gifts of food, too, but with a new granddaughter due on December 6th, I won’t have time to bake all the cookies I usually do. This sounds delicious!
Dawn Pasco says
Thanks Chloe, this takes way less time to make than cookies. This will be an exciting Christmas for you with a new addition to the family. Enjoy!
