Tea towels are not only useful for drying dishes, but they make great easy gift wrap that you can reuse. You can find inexpensive tea towels that cost just as much as a gift bag or wrapping paper. A great time to stock up on Holiday printed towels is after Christmas when they are on clearance.
A few years ago I was on a Rum Chata kick and gifted several people with a bottle of it. Rum Chata is a delicious cream liqueur which has hints of cinnamon. It tastes great in hot chocolate, coffee or just on the rocks. I simply wrapped the tea towel around the bottle and then tied it with ribbon. I added a little jingle bell which has been in my stash of wrapping paper for a few years. You can buy a package of them at Hobby Lobby or Michaels.
You can also use a tea towel to wrap a book depending on the size of your book. I wrapped a cookbook which was included in my list of gifts for the book lover. You can see the full list HERE. Simply place your book in the middle and fold the sides over. Twist the last two sides and attach a ribbon and an embellishment. I used part of a Christmas sprig as an embellishment, but you could also tie an ornament or pretty gift tag to the ribbon.
My next gift is a box of olive oils. All of my examples happen to be food related, but you can use tea towels on any gift as long as it’s not too big. You obviously wouldn’t want to use one on a shirt box. I found the little chalkboard clips at Michaels. I loved them so much I bought several packages, but I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them. I just knew I couldn’t pass them up. It turns out it looks very cute clipped to my package and it’s also reuseable.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these ideas. I love pretty packaging. I realize it’s not everyone’s thing, but to me it’s what makes gift wrapping fun. Wrapping with tea towels is a lot easier than wrestling with paper and tape. Happy Wrapping!

Thanks Keri, I’m sure they will. I found it easier to wrap with the towels than wrapping paper 🙂

I love this idea. In addition to giving 2 gifts, I just think it is easier to wrap a piece of fabric around something with an odd shape than it is to use paper. I always end up ripping the paper. Great that you shared this now so I can hit HomeGoods and pick up a few!

I totally agree Seana. Odd shaped gifts can be hard to wrap. I should stock up on some fabric as well and you can’t beat HomeGoods 🙂
