Happy New Year! This is my month of December in review on Instagram. I challenged myself to share a picture every day leading up until Christmas this year that represented the season. This wasn’t part of any organized photo a day challenge, but something I wanted to do for myself. I’ve attempted photo a day challenges in the past, but was never consistent.
Challenging myself to share a photo a day forced me to notice and appreciate things about the holiday season that I might otherwise overlook. Taking a photo a day also helps to improve your photography skills and it challenged me to be more creative when composing my photos. It’s amazing how shooting things from different angles can change the whole look and feel of a photo. My photo challenge also forced me to finally play with the Rhonna Designs app I downloaded on my iPhone at least a year ago. If you like to take photos with your phone and use fun text and doodles on your pictures I highly recommend it. You can learn more about it here.
Some of my photos also have stories behind them. The stack of peeps was what my husband came home with when I asked him to pick up two more boxes of gingerbread peeps. I think we are now covered for Christmas 2015 as well. The two cookies shown were the winners for most unique and prettiest cookie at the cookie exchange I went to this year.
I plan on putting these photos into a chat book. They are 6 X 6 scrapbooks you can make of your instagram photos. You can learn more about them here.
As you reflect on 2014 and set goals for 2105 I encourage you to think of ways you can challenge yourself. Photography may not be your thing, but perhaps there is something else you’ve always wanted to try. Instagram is quickly becoming one of my favorite forms of social media. If you love it too, I’d love for you to follow me here and I’d love to see what your world looks like in pictures.

I’m going to follow you on Instagram but just to look at yours. I don’t post anything! I love all these pics. I have driven several people by your block. I loved your lights.

Thanks Denise. It helps to have a neighbor who has the equipment to hang Christmas lights 🙂
