“Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.” This is one of my favorite quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I recently watched the movie Salmon Fishing in Yemen starring Emily Blunt, Ewan McGregor and Kristin Scott Thomas. It’s a story about fly fishing, political spinning, love and faith. The cliff notes version of the movie is a Sheikh dreams of bringing fly fishing to his homeland of Yemen. Yemen is one of the most unlikely places in the world to start a salmon farm yet the Sheikh has a vision and he persuades a scientist to step out in faith and assist him. There are obstacles along the way and a budding romance. It’s a great movie although at times it can be a little difficult to understand the thick British accents. However, I do love a British accent and I really enjoy British dry humor.
I have this quote tacked up to my bulletin board in my kitchen. I rely on my faith daily. When I started this blog I had big ideas and still do, but I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to put them into action. I have found someone usually comes into my path that has the knowledge and expertise to help me with my vision. It also requires a lot of digging and searching on my part. There are many days I’d like to go from baby steps to running, but unfortunately it’s been my experience that faith also requires patience and waiting.
It can be very scary taking the first step, but if you never take it you’ll never know what’s waiting for you around the corner.

I love your blog Dawn! Keep on keeping on My dad use to say,”Take care of the little things and the big things will work out.” I have lived by that my entire life. You know what – he is right!! It always does work out.

Couldn’t agree more, Dawn. Walk through the first door and then see what your options are. It is rare to see a clear path from start to finish. You’ve gotta start somewhere!

I feel that way about decluttering and organizing sometimes 🙂 I have to quit planning and waiting for the right time, I just have to start somewhere!
