Labor Day is fast approaching and soon the summer winds will turn into the crisp winds of fall. I often resist change; however, there are times when I really look forward to it. I’m always ready to welcome a change in the seasons. Not so much winter, but I do enjoy a nice snowfall every now and then. A month or two of winter weather is plenty for me. I look forward to the colors of fall, pumpkins, wearing jackets, watching my daughter play in the marching band, crisp mornings, and comfort foods.
This summer was full of simple joys like going to a few Kansas City Royals Baseball games. Hopefully we will continue to watch them in the playoffs this fall and maybe even another World Series.
I also enjoyed fresh vegetables from friends and family’s gardens, taking walks with my dog, vacation getaways, cucumber gin fizzes, grilled hot dog and hamburgers, spending time at the lake with friends and family, and reading some good books. My goal is to make it to the farmer’s market this weekend. I haven’t been all summer and I want to be sure to check it out before they close up for the season.
What are some of the simple joys you enjoyed this summer or what is something you’d like to do before summer officially ends? Here’s a little Frank Sinatra to get you feeling nostalgic. Have a great holiday weekend!

I love this time of year too Dawn. I’m NOT looking forward to winter but I think it gives me a greater appreciation for the seasons when we can experience them. I too am excited about the Royals and how it brings happiness to the city. Let me know what you think of the Farmers Market, I’ve wanted to go this summer and just haven’t made it there yet. Have a great Labor Day Weekend!!!

I love Frank Sinatra. This has been an incredible summer, but now I am ready to move on. I moved into a new house Memorial Day weekend and then had my daughter and granddaughters came and stayed with us for two and a half months. I know this was an amazing wonderful time that I will never get again and was so lucky to experience all the fun things with them. That being said, I spent most of my summer in Florida and it has been hot. Really hot. I am ready for the heat to break down here. I want Fall and Winter in Florida! I am glad you have enjoyed your Summer, Dawn! Happy unofficial beginning of Fall! You know, Fall is baseball World Series season!
