I mentioned in an earlier post that I’ve been working on a project. I’m happy to announce it’s one of many projects I’ve started that is now finished. I created an ebook with the help of Brian from The Blog Advisor. I’m thankful Brian was able to take my words and ideas and put them into an inspirational ebook which encourages living curiously. I’m passionate about learning and trying new things and I wanted to offer a tangible product for people to use. Even though I spend a lot of time on the computer, I’m still very old school when it comes to wanting some things on paper. The following get out of your box fall ideas are an example of some of the things you’ll find in my 31 Challenges to Encourage Curiosity and Get Out of Your Box ebook.
The 31 ideas in my ebook aren’t seasonal related, but I thought it would be fun to post a few suggestions specifically for fall. There is a box in my top sidebar advertising my ebook. Submit your email address and a page pops up with a link for the download. Be sure to save it so that you can print it off from your computer at your convenience. Also, make sure your printer option is set to fit scale. If you already subscribe to Joyful Scribblings you will be receiving an email with a link to download the ebook.
Each month I’ll select one of my 31 ideas and I’d love for you to participate in the challenge with me. I will share the challenge at the beginning of the month and follow-up with a post on my experience later that month. All of my posts relating to the Get Out of Your Box Challenges will be categorized under my live curiously tab in my menu bar at the top of my website. That way, it will be easy for you to find the post and leave a comment about your experience. I will also be using the hashtag #livecuriously on instagram. If you enjoy taking photos I’d love it if you’d join me and we can #livecuriously through each other’s experiences.
Here are 11 FALL CHALLENGES to get started and inspire you to GET OUT OF YOUR BOX
- Make a pie from scratch or try this bourbon apple cake recipe.
- Take a fall foliage drive. If you’re on instagram post a picture and use #livecuriously.
- Create a fall tablescape. I’ve shared two examples here and here.
- Add a touch of fall to your summer plants. See this post.
- Go apple or pumpkin picking
- Add pumpkin to one of your recipes.
- Add bacon to a classic s’more. See this post.
- Decorate your mantel with seasonal touches.
- Treat yourself to a warm cozy throw. If you always purchase solid blankets choose a pattern or something with texture.
- Turn something unexpected into a pumpkin. Check out this clever idea.
- Paint a fall tree. Check out this tutorial.
The challenge I’ve personally selected for this month is to make a pie from scratch. I’ve always been a big fan of Pillsbury’s ready-made pie crusts, but I’m going to challenge myself to make a crust from scratch. It’s something I’ve never done and I’ve been putting off trying it for years. Last year I made the bourbon apple cake above which was a little of my box. In addition to bourbon the recipe contains grits.
Now it’s your turn to share. Is there an idea you’d like to try? I’ve purposefully made these challenges pretty simple. The idea is to expand your horizons and live curiously. If you always make pies from scratch that doesn’t count. Leave a comment and let me know which challenge you pick. This series is something I’d like to continue, but if there isn’t a lot of reader engagement then I assume it may not be of interest to you. The only way I have to judge if this is of interest is with your feedback.

I love a challenge to get me out of my box! Can’t wait to download your ebook. I choose for my challenge to make your bourbon apple cake for my family this week. I have been in a cooking/baking slump, maybe this will help me get out of it!!

I hope you enjoy it Anne and thanks for participating. The cake has a different texture than most cakes, but I think it tastes good.

I’m sooo excited to read your book. It’s made me think of ideas and to inspire Brie to get out of her box. I even tried it when I went to bible study and I spoke up several times…..not like me…I thought I’m getting out of my box😀
Dawn Pasco says
Thanks Keri! Kudos to you for speaking up at Bible Study. It’s hard at first, but the more you do it the easier it gets. I can speak from my own experience. You are such a positive person and people can learn from you. I’m looking forward to our silks class 🙂
