Love is the key which binds us all. We celebrate love on Valentine’s Day, but really we should be celebrating love every day. Valentine’s Day is the second largest card sending holiday following right behind Christmas. Contrary to my father’s beliefs, Hallmark did not start this holiday. You can read about the history of Valentine’s Day here. Trying to find the perfect gift or treat for loved ones can be stressful. I’ve rounded up a few my favorite last-minute Valentine’s Day ideas that are simple and don’t cost a lot of money or time.
I love this Conversation Sugar Heart Scrub from The Casual Craftlete for Simple as That. I’m pretty sure I’ve shared it on my Facebook page in the past. It’s so easy to make and would be the perfect treat for a friend or daughter.
These Valentine Honey Jars from Magnolia (as in Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper) are adorable and also very easy to make. A link is provided for you to download the labels which say Bee’cause You’re Sweeter Than Honey. They would also make a great little thank you gift for a friend or neighbor. Add a box of tea, a tea-cup and jar of honey and you have a sweet gift.
Since Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday try these strawberry lemon poppyseed pancakes from Creme de la Crumb for a special breakfast. My mouth is watering just looking at them.
These Mini Cherry Heart Pies from Frugal Coupon Living would also make a nice treat for your family.
I also love these free printable tags you can attach to a pack of donuts. My kids haven’t outgrown their love for mini powdered sugar donuts. These would be a nice treat for a class party.
I made these Valentine Oreo Envelopes last year and I’ve shared some ideas for Valentine’s Beverages in the past.
Share a cocktail with your partner or a friend and decorate it with pink cocktail sugar and hearts like this one from Dellcove Spices on Etsy. If you enjoy a glass of wine check out these 8 Great Bottles of Wine recommended by my wine loving friend.
Little treats like these help make Valentine’s Day more special, but in the end what really matters is that people feel seen and heard. Cell phones have consumed our societies attention. Many people don’t speak or look at each anymore because they are too busy looking at their phone. I see it in restaurants. I see it when my kids are around me or their friends. I see it in myself when I hear my phone ding of a text or I’m scrolling through Instagram or trying to take the perfect picture for Instagram. Spend a little time with your loved ones and put away your phone. Watch one of these 50 movies about love, read a book or play a board game and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

What a great list of things to do for V-day! We love Valentine’s day in our house because we love hearts and love and sparkly things. 🙂 Such a great reminder to put the phones down and to be present in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones. That is what matters! They are what is truly important. Not what someone we don’t even know posted on social media. Thanks!
