Raise your hand if you enjoy a home tour! I know I do. There’s something exciting about peeking into the homes of other people to see how they live. Call it curiosity or voyeurism, but either way it can provide inspiration or give you a new perspective. I’m a big fan of the show Downton Abbey and I’m sad the show has ended. There was an episode where they opened up the castle which in reality is Highclere Castle. You can read 10 interesting facts about the castle here. They decided to sell tickets to tour part of the castle to raise money. I can’t remember the exact cause, but Lord Grantham couldn’t understand why anyone would pay money to see their home. He thought the idea was absurd and had obviously never traveled to Hollywood California. If you watched Downton Abbey then you know how Carson felt about a home tour.
The spaces I’m sharing aren’t as grandiose as Highclere Castle, but they are a few of my favorite rooms from some decorating blogs I read from time to time.
I love this living room which belongs to Designer Emily A Clark. She has a great sense of style and I love all of the textures and the pops of gold in this room. She likes to decorate with thrift store finds which I think adds a lot of personality to a home. You can see more pictures on her blog here.
I also love Melissa’s style from The Inspired Room. She just recently moved to a home in Seattle, but you can find several of her home tours here. I love this little coffee station she has set up in her kitchen which inspired me to make my own. I however have a Keurig instead of a fancy espresso machine.
This is a glimpse of Designer and Blogger Kristin Jackson’s backyard. I love what she has done with her outdoor patios. Her style is a little more bolder than mine and somewhat glam, but it works. You can see more of her home on Hunted Interior here.
I love what Kristin from Bliss at Home did with this small bathroom renovation. It somewhat inspired me when I was looking for tile for our master bathroom renovation. I chose a tile that looks like carrara marble and I love it. You can see more of Kristin’s home here.
Lately I’ve found myself being drawn to a little bit of glamour and a more clean and classic look. I still love lots of textures though and a coastal feel. I’m also drawn to a farmhouse style at times. My tastes have evolved over the years. It’s fun to dream, but the reality is decorating costs money. It doesn’t always have to cost a lot of money though. I shared some simple ways to pretty your space in this post. Sometimes a new paint color, throw pillows or rug are all a room needs to update it a little.
Live curiously and try something new in your home this spring. If you’re having Downton Abbey withdrawals like I am check out these 18 Quotes from the Dowager Countess. They will definitely make you smile!

Thanks so much Shelley that is sweet of you. I actually thought about taking a quick picture to share it as my favorite space in my home. I will this summer when I get all of my summer decor out. My living room, master bath, master bedroom, spare room and basement look totally different now. I’ve updated to the warmer gray colors and changed furniture around. I’m still trying to get things back on the walls. I’ll try to share some pictures this summer.

Very pretty rooms…it is clear you have a style you really like, because I can see the theme through the rooms you have featured. Crisp white, a touch of black and gold for the metallic accent. I had gold in my last big house and now that it is all the rage I of course have switched to chrome! Figures!

You’re right Chloe. I didn’t notice the correlation between the spaces, but you are spot on. I love what you are doing with your Florida home. I have a pinterest board full of coastal decor for whenever I have my beach home. This girl can dream!

Thanks for sharing. Brie wants to paint her room WHITE! I’m still dragging my feet because I haven’t had a white wall in years. But looking at some of the pictures you put in this blog is making me change my mind.

Okay, now I want to see your sunroom too! I have enjoyed touring the homes in Newport, RI. It is fascinating to see how other people lived. My home isn’t really a showroom, but I love it anyway. And it is organized 🙂
