I returned from my Spring Break trip to New York City to find once dormant trees blooming in Kansas City. According to the calendar it’s now officially spring and I’m ready for a reawakening and new growth. I’ve been in the mood to simplify things in my home life and clear out things that are weighing me down. It’s going to be a busy spring and I’m always on the look out for new ideas to inspire me.
I love the idea of starting a capsule wardrobe to simplify decisions about what to wear. I learned about the capsule wardrobe plan about a year ago, but I still have yet to attempt to create one. I tend to already wear the same 3 pairs of pants from Athleta, 2 pairs of jeans, and one pair of chino pants. The metro slouch pant from Athleta is comfortable, flattering and my go-to pant. I love this step-by-step guide from The Everygirl on how to build a spring wardrobe capsule. Spring can be one of the toughest seasons to know what to wear in Kansas City. One day it’s 40 and the next day it’s 78 degrees.
I get extra thirsty during the spring and summer months and love a glass of tea or a fun cocktail. I love drinks which are a little out of the ordinary for a change every now and then. This hibiscus iced tea sparkler from Diethood caught my eye from a roundup of 12 cocktails for spring entertaining from About.com. Perhaps try one as part of my get out of your box challenge this month. My white sangria recipe also makes a great non-alcoholic drink option for spring and summer entertaining.
These chocolate peanut butter peeps skillet s’mores from How Sweet It Is made me SMILE. Chocolate and peanut butter are my favorite combination of flavors. I’m a HUGE fan of s’mores and PEEPS were a staple during the Easter season in my home. My 76-year-old mother still loves a PEEP. I haven’t tried to make this yet, but I’m smitten with the beautiful colors and delicious gooeyness of toasted PEEPS.
I love this fun painting activity you can do with kids from Playful Learning. Create your own Monet painting with flowers. My kids would have loved doing this when they were younger. I would actually enjoy doing it myself!
Since I’m on the subject of flowers, I came across this fun 2016 Flower Guide on Pinterest. If you love the Panetone Colors of this year, Rose Quartz and Serenity, then you’ll like this flower inspiration from Flower Muse Blog.
If you are looking for last-minute ways to dress up your Easter table I shared these 7 inspiring easy Easter Tabletop Ideas last spring.
I hope you’ll live curiously and try something new this spring. Do any of these ideas catch your eye?

Dawn your suggestion of the capsule wardrobe is perfect for my daughter and her getting dressed for school in the morning difficulties! Thanks so much 🙂

I hope it helps Emily. It probably takes a little getting used to. I think the less you have really makes decision making so much easier. We tend to wear only 20% of our wardrobe anyhow. I think the key is finding things you can mix and match.

Love this post! So many great ideas for Spring. Really REALLY love the closet idea….I need to do some cleaning out!!!

Thanks Shelley. I don’t really have a ton of clothes, but I really like this idea of having nice quality basics with just a few fun things thrown in. I don’t like to spend a lot of time trying to decide what to wear, but I want it to look good and be comfortable. I need to up my every day style from yoga pants 🙂 The metro slouch is a nice in-between item.

Thanks Tina. I would love to try it myself even though I’m not much of a painter. Happy Spring!
