This month’s Get Out of Your Box Challenge is to try a new recipe or sign up for a cooking class or demonstration in your area. I’ve mentioned before how I love the idea of cooking, but don’t actually enjoy the process. Cooking shows make everything look so easy. All of the ingredients are already pre-measured,placed in cute little bowls and 10 minutes later out pops a beautiful dish from the oven. Giada, Ina and friends make it all look effortless.
Even though I don’t love cooking, I love food and enjoy trying new dishes. I get tired of the same menu day in and day out. There are so many recipes on the internet that you probably wouldn’t be able to make them all in your lifetime. Check out my recipes tab in my menu bar for some of my favorites.
This Sweet and Sour Chinese Dip recipe from my friend Jamie is my most pinned recipe on Pinterest. I have a board of Pinterest Recipes I’ve Tried and Liked where a few of my friends and I pin recipes we’ve made that are worth making again. You can follow me on Pinterest here. Below are a few recipes we’ve pinned.
If you’re looking for something healthy. I love this Quinoa Avocado Spinach Power Salad from The Garden Grazer. I’ve made it several times for lunch.
I’ve come across cloud bread recipes in the past couple of days, but haven’t tried to make it yet. My friend Angela pinned this No-Carb Rosemary Cloud Bread from The Big Apple Mama. I definitely want to try this recipe seeing how it only has 4 ingredients and no carbs.
My friend Anne has made these Breakfast Bread Bowls from Perfecting the Pairing several times for her family and they are a big hit. I haven’t made them yet, but they are definitely on my list to try.
If you have a sweet tooth like me, you will love these Chex Scotcharoos from Pretty Plain Janes. My friend Anne shared them with me awhile back and I practically ate the whole batch.
I’ve signed up for a cooking class this month at The Olive Tree with local Chef Jasper Mirabile of Jasper’s Restaurant & Marco Polo’s Italian Market. I’ll be sharing my experience with you later this month. I’ve also taken classes at my local recreation center, Blue Valley Recreation and the Culinary Center of Kansas City in the past. Both places offer a variety of classes for kids and adults. Williams Sonoma also offers cooking demonstrations from time to time which I’ve attended. I also shared my experience with Taste of Home’s Cooking School here.
For someone who doesn’t love to cook I’m not sure why I continue to sign up for cooking classes and demonstrations. I guess it’s the curiosity in me to learn something new and gain a new perspective on how to prepare foods. I also love having a delicious meal cooked by someone else.
Don’t forget to download my free March calendar page and schedule a class or make a list of recipes you’d like to try this month.
