I used to love the song Things That Make You Go Hmmm by C & C Music Factory. I realize this may be dating me a bit, but as I was trying to think of a title for this post Apps That Make You Go Hmmmm popped into my head. These are several Apps I use regularly and in my opinion are worth checking out depending upon your interests.
If you’re a list maker like me, Wunderlist is an App you might like. It’s free and available on Apple devices as well as Android. I used to use the Notes option on my iPhone to record different things friends shared with me that I wanted to remember. The problem is I had list after list of random things. With the Wunderlist App I can create categories and even share my lists with my contacts. I mainly use Wunderlist to keep track of book, movie, television show, and restaurant recommendations. Many times I’ll also read about a product I want to try or a website I’d like to check out. Wunderlist provides a quick way for me to make a note of it since I usually always have my phone nearby. I like having all of my lists in one place instead of various notebooks. The App also lets you set due dates and reminders. I don’t use this function, but because I’m a procrastinator I’m thinking I probably should.
If you love to take photos with your phone and edit them there are tons of Apps on the market. I have several loaded on my phone. One that I use a lot is the Rhonna Designs App. I use it to edit photos and create images like the header image in this post and on Instagram. You can also use it to create wallpaper for your phone which I did in this post. It’s one that you have to play around with for a little while to get the hang of it and there are also several tutorials. The App is $1.99 and you get 27 fonts to create text and all sorts of backgrounds to choose from. You can also purchase design packs for a small fee with all sorts of cool images and quotes. The App is available for iPhone and iPad, Android and Windows phone.
If you are looking for stress relief and like to meditate or want to practice meditation the Calm App is a great tool. The App is free, but if you wish to have access to various guided meditations there is a subscription fee. I mainly use it for the timed unguided sessions which are free. You select the number of minutes you’d like to be in a zen state then select the scene of your choice with background noise. My go-to scene is the sunset beach. I close my eyes and listen to the sound of sea gulls and the ocean. It’s my happy place and about as close to the beach as I can get living in Kansas. A nice feature of the App is it keeps track of your progress by marking off each day you meditate on a calendar. It also keeps track of your longest streak, total time meditating and total sessions.
If you want timed workout ideas you can do anywhere, you might try the Sworkit App. I shared details in a past post here.
If you like to create art, but are lacking in artistic skills then the Waterlogue App is for you. I shared how easy it is to create a watercolor picture from a photo in this post.
I also shared these helpful Apps in a past post, but I have to admit that I don’t really use them anymore. That doesn’t mean I don’t think they’re good. They just don’t fit with my current lifestyle.
What’s your favorite phone App? Please leave a comment below this post.

Thanks Dawn!
I am a list maker too – I am going to have to try Wunderlist. One if my favorite apps is Pepperplate. It is s recipe “file”. You can download recipes directly from a website or input them manually. When you choose a recipe to make, there is a box you check to add all those ingredients to a grocery list. You can also manually add other things to the list as well.
I find it a great app to help me keep my favorite recipes with me so when I’m grocery shopping I don’t forget a key ingredient.

Thanks for sharing Jeanene I’ll have to check out Pepperplate. That would be good to have for recipes you make all the time. I’ve found sometimes I think I know all of the ingredients and then wind up leaving one out.

What a great list of apps! I want to try the Wunderlist app for sure. I use Notes on my phone for all the categories you mentioned above but I can’t share it or schedule with it. Do you know of an app that you can use to organize Doctor’s your family uses and medications your family is on? Brie has ALOT of doctors and medications I need to keep track of. Even though I have my fitbit I still use the “Runkeeper” app on my phone. It tracks my running/walking, distance, time, speed. Kinda fun to compare to what I’ve done in the past.

Thanks for sharing Keri! I think you could use Wunderlist if you just want to have a list of all of your doctors and medications in one place. You would just set up those categories.

Hi dawn, I like the idea of the wunderlist app, I will check it out. the app I use almost everyday is runkeeper. I don’t run, but you can use it to log walking too, and set goals for yourself. I like to see the amount of miles I have walked each month. It’s motivational for me.

I’ll have to check out runkeeper. I have a feeling I wouldn’t be that dedicated too it though 🙁 Thanks for sharing!

I am obviously not doing enough with my iPhone! I kind of like the idea of lists in categories, but even though I use my phone, I always go back to paper and pen for my lists. I love the photo editing apps, I just don’t know when I would have a spare minute to use them! Great information here, Dawn!

Thanks Chloe! I’m still a pencil and paper gal as well, but the nice thing is when I’m on the go I always have my phone with me so it’s handy. I’ve gotten in the habit of using Wunderlist at home too that way everything is one place.

I love making lists and Wunderlist looks cool but I have been using Evernote for awhile now and hate to move them all. It allows you to keep them in Notebooks (essentially categories) and I can send them too. But that interface looks a bit cleaner.
I didn’t realize you were such a C&C Music Factory fan. I can’t believe your favorite band is still Right Said Fred.

One of my favorite apps is Flight Aware… which comes in so handy when I travel. I also love Yahoo Weather, because I am sort of a weather geek!

Thanks for sharing Seana! I’ll have to check out Flight Aware. I also have a weather app on my phone 🙂 that’s how I check the day’s weather forecast. I don’t watch the news anymore.
