Are you enjoying some of the simple joys of summer? Things like BBQ’s, a summer cocktail, visiting a farmers market, pool time, ice cream cones or laying in a hammock. My Get Out Of Your Box challenge for the month of July is to take at least 10 photos of some of the simple joys of summer. Be creative and capture spontaneous moments or take a picture of an ordinary object from a different perspective. Email one or two of your favorite pictures to dawn@joyfulscribblings.com or tag me on instagram. If I have enough people participate I will share my favorites in a blog post next month.
I hope you are taking some time to rest and rejuvenate this summer. One of my simple joys is relaxing with a good book. I shared some of the books I’m reading this summer here. I’ve cut back on the number of blog posts I’m writing this summer. I often feel like I’m on information overload between emails, cell phone texts, social media, and you tube videos. I need to take regular breaks and just read a gold old-fashioned magazine or book.
My family loves to catch a few Kansas City Royals baseball games every summer. They also happen to be the World Series Champions (just saying).
I’m not ashamed to admit I love a good hot dog during the summer months, especially if it’s from a fun food truck.
If you follow me on instagram you may have seen this photo. I’m loving all of the fun floats that are currently on the market.
Some of the best photographs are of nature. I took this photo when were on vacation in Seaside, Florida.
I took all of these photos with my iPhone. You don’t need a fancy camera to take a decent photo. I shared this simple tip that will help you improve your photography. I also typically edit my photos using PicMonkey which is a free image editing website or if I’m posting to instagram I may use a filter. Two basic edits that are easy to do are to brighten your photo if it’s dark and increase the contrast. The photo app A Color Story is also a lot of fun to use.
For more photo inspiration you can check out this post of 30 photos to celebrate summer. Once you’ve taken your summer photos here are 3 things you can do with your phone photos.
I hope you’ll join me in capturing the simple joys of summer and share your photos with me either through email at dawn@joyfulscribblings.com or tag me on instagram.
